Art at Congress
The RCPsych is excited to highlight the powerful connection between art and mental health as part of our 2025 International Congress, with a focus on integrating art into our Cultural Fringe programme.
Read on below to learn more about what we have planned!
Congress Art Hub
Stop by the Congress Art Hub during the morning and afternoon breaks and the lunch hour to meet our artist in residence, Dr Adam Hines-Green, and take part in our Congress Process Piece!
You will be invited to respond to the question 'what does a typical day look like for you?' in whatever way you choose. You could use writing, drawing, collage or painting - designed to encourage you to reflect on your days and create a lasting document of how we experience our lives.
Digital display at Congress
We will be displaying a digital carousel of artworks during the breaktimes between Congress sessions.
We will have a number of artworks on display from artists, members of the College, allied health professionals and College staff.
Look out for these displays on the screens around the venue during the breaks.
Roving Artists
Across each of the four days, we will be asking a different member to document Congress in their own way. This could be through sketches, painting, collaging, poetry, prose, however they wish to capture the atmosphere at Congress.
The Roving Artists will have creative freedom to respond in an artistic way to any element of Congress, whether it be the atmosphere, a response to discussions, thoughts generated by talks, or chats with fellow delegates.
This is the first year we are exploring having Roving Artists, and the artistic outputs will be preserved in the College archives as we build up a series of artistic reflections of Congress over the years.
