About the series 


Engaging Minds: Webinars for Old Age Psychiatry Doctors in Higher Training is a new series designed specifically for trainees, to give you access to clinical updates, networking opportunities and engagement with experts. Sessions are designed and hosted by the Representatives from the Old Age Faculty, and are only open to Resident Doctors in Higher Training to attend, thanks to the generous funding support of the Faculty.

Webinar #1: Physical health insights into the geriatric population

This took place on 21 November 2024 and focused on physical health insights related to the geriatric population, exploring the unique challenges faced by older adults and looking at ways to manage them. Talks were given by Dr Belen Gonzalez-Herrero, Consultant Neurologist, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust on Hyperkinetic movement disorders, and by Dr Khalid Haque, Consultant Geriatrician, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, on physical health Insights. 

    Webinar #2: Ethics and law: navigating complex cases

    This took place on 16 January 2025 and speakers included:

    • Dr Hasanen Al-Taiar, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Forensic TPD
    • “Learning from cautionary tales”. Miss Hannah Bignell, MDU liaison manager in Secondary Care (West Midlands)
