Dixon Chibanda is a professor of psychiatry and global mental health at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and University of Zimbabwe. He is the founder of the Friendship Bench which has been running for over 15 years in Zimbabwe and beyond.
In 2024 over 300,000 people received therapy from community grandmothers across Zimbabwe under the leadership of Dixon Chibanda. His TED talk 'Why I train grandmothers to treat depression' has over three million views.
